R&D Manager
Role Responsibilities
- Responsible for the functional and disciplinary management of the R&D managers in Germany (as of 2024: 3) and final functional management responsibility for all R&D employees in the Software-and-Hardware Development and System Development departments
- Needs-based further development of managers and employees in the area of responsibility and continuous improvement of individual and team performance
- Securing and expanding knowledge in line with the corporate strategy
- Contributing to the derivation of strategic corporate goals into development goals (OKRs) and ensuring cascading at team level, including cross-team coordination
- Cooperation and support of Product Management in the context of the market product strategy and derivation of product-relevant differentiation features and product development requirements
- Responsible for the planning, execution and control of approved R&D projects including prototyping in compliance with the stage gate process and development budgets
- Regular and proactive reporting regarding the achievement of R&D goals and disruptions/deviations and budget/resource targets
- Ensuring and optimizing efficient project management, including defining the priorities and resources of the departments in coordination with the development stakeholders (management, product management, sales)
- Process and quality assurance and optimization in the area of responsibility
- Supporting holistic/comprehensive troubleshooting for new and existing systems
- Ensuring product safety requirements
- Creation and guarantee of various technical documentation and drawings as well as other necessary handover documents to the respective interfaces
- Early and proactive cooperation with Purchasing for the strategic development of critical technical suppliers
- Supporting cross-location R&D projects

Qualifications
- Degree in natural sciences or engineering (Dipl. / MSc) with a good degree
- Many years of professional experience in R&D/engineering of complex systems
- Several years of management experience and advanced project management knowledge
- Experience in the field of microscopy, micro structuring, analytical technology or similar
- Very good planning, organizational and communication skills
- Assertiveness and entrepreneurial thinking
- Fluent in written and spoken English, German is an advantage
